Well the clay head I made, not MY head&#8230;.LOL. Having them off the armature like this meant that they spread out a bit making the task of putting them back together somewhat harder.\u00a0 Plus I ended up with the back of the head flat. LOL\u00a0 Flat Head&#8230;..rotflmao.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<div id=\"attachment_168\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/washiparagone.blogtown.co.nz\/files\/2010\/02\/118-Medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-168\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-168 \" title=\"Scooping out excess clay.\" src=\"http:\/\/washiparagone.blogtown.co.nz\/files\/2010\/02\/118-Medium-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/washiparagone.blogtown.co.nz\/files\/2010\/02\/118-Medium-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/washiparagone.blogtown.co.nz\/files\/2010\/02\/118-Medium.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-168\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caption: Scooping out excess clay.<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<dl>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/washiparagone.blogtown.co.nz\/files\/2010\/02\/124-Medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Putting the two halves back together. \" src=\"http:\/\/washiparagone.blogtown.co.nz\/files\/2010\/02\/124-Medium-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Caption: Putting the two halves back together <\/dd>\n<dd> <\/dd>\n<dd>We put the two halves back together again.\u00a0 This was a job and a half for one person, so a lot of us helped each other out.\u00a0 The sides don&#8217;t meet properly as the head has got a little distorted.\u00a0 You couldn&#8217;t wait for the clay to get too hard before cutting it in half as it wouldn&#8217;t be able to be joined up again very successfully.\u00a0 However too wet and it distorts too much and puts too much strain on the clay, especially in places like under the chin or wherever there is sharp angles and heavy weight pulling the clay in a particular direction.\u00a0 Once you have scored the two halves where they will be joined and put lots of slurry on you gently push the two halves together.\u00a0 Using a separate coil of clay you help bridge the two halves by merging the coil into the seam.<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div>\n<dl>\n<dt><a href=\"..\/files\/2010\/02\/126-Medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Build up the neck and smooth some of the face out.\" src=\"..\/files\/2010\/02\/126-Medium-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Caption: Build up the neck and smooth some of the face out.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>I did some repair work, mostly around the neck that needed building up to support the head better.\u00a0 Smoothed out the worst of the rough bits, and did some more work on matching one cheek, cheekbone and jaw line with the other on the other side of the face.<\/p>\n<p>Finally I started working on the eyes, eyelids and folds around the eyes.\u00a0 It took me all day to get one eye looking at least similar to the other.\u00a0 It was either too low or too small or just TOO\u00a0 something.\u00a0 That was the hardest to fix&#8230;.the TOO SOMETHING&#8230;.LOL cause it took a long time to figure out what the something was.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/files\/2010\/02\/127-Medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"127 (Medium)\" src=\"..\/files\/2010\/02\/127-Medium-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see it wasn&#8217;t easy.\u00a0 The one on the left was great,\u00a0 it was just trying to get the one on the right.\u00a0 oh well, I think Ive got the worst of it done now&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Ill be back to post some more photos soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well here is my head cut in half.
